Lapelúda’s EP Blends Roots and Resilience

Montreal’s indie folk scene will soon welcome a new release from Lapelúda, the Colombian-Québécoise artist known for blending her cultural roots with intimate storytelling. Her upcoming EP, Entre cielo y tierra, arrives September 2, 2025, and will be launched with a concert on October 3 at Salle Bourgie.

Lapelúda, born Sofia Le Quéré-Galvis, first made her mark with Caídas in 2022, a trilingual album that explored themes of innocence, betrayal, transformation, and reconciliation. The record’s warm mix of indie folk and Latin influences earned it a nomination for Album of the Year at the Latin Awards Canada in 2023, positioning her as a distinctive voice in Montreal’s multilingual music landscape.

With Entre cielo y tierra, Lapelúda shifts toward a more introspective tone. Composed largely in solitude and surrounded by nature, the EP reflects on the fragility of life, the presence of absence, and the quiet rituals that become sacred over time. Its lead single, “Maldita Falta,” is a slow, tender ballad that lingers on small, evocative details: a silent kitchen, a bed that feels too large, and the faint echo of what’s missing. The song nods to early-2000s Latin pop but delivers it with a subdued, personal intimacy.

The October launch concert at Salle Bourgie promises a setting that mirrors the EP’s understated mood. The venue’s warm acoustics and intimate scale are well-suited to Lapelúda’s trilingual storytelling, offering an evening steeped in both vulnerability and connection.
