Montreal got a dose of psych-drenched rock ’n’ roll on May 4, when L.A. Witch and Daiistar rolled through town and took over Bar Le Ritz PDB.
The Austin-based openers Daiistar set the tone with layers of shoegaze distortion and motorik rhythm—equal parts hypnotic and heavy. Think Jesus and Mary Chain by way of Texas heat. Then L.A. Witch took the stage, cloaked in smoke and reverb, delivering their signature mix of garage grit and noir surf cool. Frontwoman Sade Sanchez held the room with a sneer and a Fender, her vocals slicing through the haze like a knife wrapped in velvet.
It was the kind of night where the amps were loud, the beer was cold, and nobody was in a rush to leave. Below are some shots from the show—grain, grit and all.
