Hey there! How about a fantastic way to spend a lovely spring Friday night? Picture this: you’re at Place Bell in Laval, surrounded by 3,000 of your closest friends, all pumped up for a metal show! And guess what? We were there to witness the legendary metalcore pioneers, Killswitch Engage!
Before the main event, we had a tasty treat called Frozen Soul. They took the stage and delivered a six-song set, followed by a couple of bands from Texas.

First up, we had Fit For a King. They were greeted with a warm welcome and put on an incredible show, even though the dim lighting made it tough to see them. They gave us a solid ten-song set. I’m a big fan of this band, but I noticed they might have been a bit less energetic than usual. They started with “Eyes Roll Back,” and ended with “God of Fire.”

Next, we had Kublai Khan TX. They hit the road running with “Supreme Leader,” and you could instantly feel the energy level soar. They kept pounding us with a super loud bass and absolutely rocked it! They gave us a 12-song set and ended their night with “Anpile” and “Antpile 2.”

Finally, Killswitch Engage — the Massachusetts rockers — hit the stage! They were ready to rock out, as always! Their first song was “Strength of the Mind,” and then during the third song, “Reckoning,” Jesse Leach came out to the barrier for a special moment with the fans. After that, he apologized for what the USA is doing to us, saying how much they love us!

They truly do love Montréal — even guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz asked if anyone could adopt him, calling himself a piece of shit. This guy is hilarious! With his beer headband, stupid T-shirt, and pizza box guitar, he’s my kind of guy. I love his energy, and the whole band totally fed off it.

They gave us an epic 18-song set that was packed with high-octane energy! My favourites were “This Fire” and “My Curse,” but the whole show was a solid overall experience. “Collusion,” “The Signal Fire,” and “In Due Time” were also highlights.
Killswitch Engage is on a roll, and I can’t wait to see them again! Maybe this summer at the Summer of Loud Tour? That would be awesome!
