Corey Taylor doesn’t really require an introduction but we’ll give him one anyway.
The 46-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer and New York Times Best-Selling Author is certainly one of modern rock and metal’s most prominent figures. As the frontman of both Stone Sour and the mighty Slipknot, Taylor rarely seems to embrace any kind of downtime and recently chose to expand his artistry even further with the launch of a solo career.
CMFT (Corey Mother F**king Taylor), is the debut album for Taylor’s long talked about solo project. The song “CMFT Must Be Stopped” features Taylor laying down a rapped verse over a heavy rock track. He is joined by Kid Bookie and Tech N9ne, who each get a full verse in the song and the accompanying music video features cameos from Marilyn Manson, Metallica’s Lars Ulrich, Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale, and more.
The album was recorded at Hideout Studio in Las Vegas with producer Jay Ruston and released this month on Roadrunner Records. Christian Martucci (guitar), Zach Throne (guitar), Jason Christopher (bass) and Dustin Robert (drums) all played on the record.
Montreal Rocks writer Richard Brunette caught up with Corey at his home to chat about the record, WWE, Spongebob and his rare Star Wars poster collection.

CMFT is available in various physical packages from Corey Taylor’s merch site and through all streaming services.
Thanks a lot to Corey and Warner Music Canada for setting up the interview.
