The 15th of July 2022 is the date to put into the calendar: the Sand Diego prog rock band Birth is launching is debut album Born. Six intense tracks that will make you think… a lot. At the crossroad of classic and psychedelic rock, this is a work not to miss for whoever wants to get lost in deep thoughts and abstract reflections…while perceiving traces and memories from the greats, such as Cream, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd (but NOT only).

Montreal Rocks interviewed Conor Riley, lead singer and guitar/keyboards player, that together with Brian Ellis (lead guitar, Keyboards), Trevor Mast (bass), Thomas Di Benedetto (Drums) constitutes Birth.
Inspiration could come from everywhere, and in this case it strangely and magnifically merges the best music influences with science fiction. “I’m a scientist by trade and I read a lot of dystopian sci-fi, which I believe is relevant to many of the events that have been occurring lately” notes Conor. “These views feed a dark, spiritual and mystical relationship that I have with scientific thought”.
Conor told us about the process of creating an album like this one: the challenges and the achievements as well. He also gave us a projection for the future and the next steps for Birth.
While Born evokes dystopian musical landscapes, it surely could be also interpreted as an internal journey…moments to reflect accompanied by the beautiful guitar lines dispersed on the entire album.
