In a significant announcement for Montreal indie music fans, Half Moon Run has unveiled their plan to host “L’Appel Montréal,” a one-day festival at Olympic Park on May 30, 2024. This festival marks a new venture for the band as they step into the realm of event curation, a move aimed at giving back to the fans of their hometown, Montreal.
After fourteen years of making music together, Half Moon Run is excited to curate every aspect of this event, promising a unique and thrilling experience for attendees. Joining them as co-headliners will be the renowned Men I Trust, creating what is anticipated to be a dream lineup for fans of Canadian indie music. The festival’s lineup is expected to grow, with more acts to be announced in the coming weeks.
This announcement follows a series of successful performances by both bands. Men I Trust played two sold-out shows at MTELUS in September, while Half Moon Run is set to perform to sold-out crowds on December 13 and 14, concluding their 2023 tour.
Reflecting on their experience at various global music festivals, Half Moon Run expressed their excitement at incorporating these influences into their own festival. They view L’Appel Montréal as a gesture of gratitude to their Montreal fan-base, acknowledging the crucial role these supporters have played in their career.
About Half Moon Run
Over their twelve-year journey, Half Moon Run has maintained a dynamic blend of contrasting moods in their music, merging beauty with sadness, harmony with menace, and despair with groove. Following their last album, “A Blemish in the Great Light” (2019), they have released two EPs and a collection of “isolation versions” of older songs. The band has been recognized with two Juno Awards for ‘Adult Alternative Album of the Year’ in 2020 and 2022, along with nominations for ‘Group of the Year’ in 2021 and ‘Breakthrough Group’ in 2016. Despite the departure of Isaac Symonds, the band’s remaining members – Devon Portielje, Conner Molander, and Dylan Phillips – continue as the foundational trio. In June 2023, they released their latest studio album, “Salt.”

About Men I Trust
Men I Trust, consisting of Emmanuelle Proulx, Jessy Caron, and Dragos Chiriac, have emerged as a staple in the indie music scene. With four studio albums and various EPs and singles, including their most recent release, “Ring Of Past” (2023), they have captivated a global audience. Boasting over 9M monthly listeners on Spotify, they have performed at major festivals such as Coachella and Lollapalooza. Following the success of their “Untourable Album,” the band embarked on a 28-show headline tour in the USA in fall 2023 and announced plans for a fifth album in 2024.
Fans of Half Moon Run and Men I Trust can look forward to an unforgettable experience at L’Appel Montréal, as these bands bring their unique sounds and extensive festival experience to their hometown in 2024.
