Sunday night at Casa Del Popolo was a tough one to attend, with the venue reaching boiling temperature. Luckily, the lineup was filled with so much talent that it was well worth the endure.

It begins with Bellwort setting the tone with a moving, grim soundscape. Despite not having much lighting for their stage presence, their performance was very effective. They were so immersive that the audience did not miss a single moment, despite how hot it was.

Next up was Martlet. Like Bellworth are a 3 piece band, but unlike the first opener, used projection visuals. It very much added to their performance. They started off with a slow tempo and progressively became faster, louder, and more intense with excellent distortion. It was such a treat to see bassist Cymon swinging his big stature all about on stage with very limited space.

The following act was Chained To The Bottom Of The Ocean, which I had high anticipation, and they did not disappoint. They brought big energy to a boiler room. Seeing them sweat profusely while they performing their heavily distorted riffs and bass lines had us all hold our breath to the very end. Their sound brings you deep and has them live up to their name.

The final act, Forn, took possession of the stage. Their style, which combined doom, sludge, post-rock, and ethereal ambience, had us all properly endure the venue’s heat. It was so heavy and visceral that we couldn’t lift our feet from the ground. We heard and felt vocalist Chris Pinto’s immersion as he spewed with such passion that many listeners in the audience were mirroring his movement on stage. From start to finish, they did not let up.
