Eric Prydz Turns a Rain-Soaked Off Piknic Into a Moment of Devotion

Montreal has never been the kind of city to wait for perfect weather to dance.

Last night at Parc Jean-Drapeau, Off Piknic unfolded under persistent rain, the kind that slowly turns a summer evening into something colder and almost cinematic. Hoods were up, shoes were soaked, hair was dripping.

But Eric Prydz was there to make sure people kept moving.

The evening began timidly, with the crowd slowly gathering under the rain. Laure opened the FIZZ Stage before Qrion took over with a set that built electrifying tension, slowly pulling bodies in despite the cold.

Then came the shift.

When Prydz stepped on stage at 8 p.m., the rain was still falling. What he brought was architectural: a progressive house sound he has spent years perfecting. His music did not erase the rain; it transformed it.

His set moved like a precise construction, each element arriving from somewhere distant before snapping into place. He has a rare way of building a rise, letting it grow slowly before releasing it with controlled force. Every time, the crowd answered.

It was not the easiest Off Piknic. It was not the driest. The evening had started slowly, but perhaps that is what made it unforgettable: the fans who stayed until the end under the pouring rain, and never considered leaving.
