After a four-year hiatus, Béatrice Martin aka Cœur de pirate returns with Cavale, marking nearly two decades of artistic evolution for the Montreal singer-songwriter. The album, set for release on Friday September 26 under Bravo musique, represents her seventh collection since her breakthrough in 2008.
The 10-track album arrives September 26, 2025, featuring the recently released single “Mélancolie” alongside previously shared tracks “Château de sable” and the title track “Cavale.” This marks Martin’s first full album since 2021’s Impossible à aimer, though she released the instrumental collection Perséides that same year.
The new material explores themes of anxiety and personal reflection as Martin examines her career trajectory. The record showcases her characteristic range, moving from the propulsive pop of the title track to the choral arrangements of “Château de sable” and the French touch elements of “Mélancolie” and “Laisse-moi pleurer.” An intimate piano solo piece titled “Pensées intrusives” provides a quieter moment within the collection.
Martin collaborated with Nicolas Subrechicot, known for his work with Zaho de Sagazan, on keyboards and co-production duties. Renaud Bastien contributed guitar, pre-production, arrangements, co-production and additional recording. The rhythm section features Benjamin Dousteyssier on saxophone and Félix-Antoine Beaudoin on drums. Florent Livet handled mixing with assistance from Loïc Grenouillet, while recording took place at Les studios d’en face in Paris with Sébastien Salis and Livet. Chab completed the mastering.
The album coincides with an international tour beginning this autumn in Canada. Martin will perform at MTelus in Montreal on November 6, marking her first performance in the province since summer 2023. The Canadian leg includes stops at Quebec City’s Grand Theatre, Toronto’s Concert Hall, Sherbrooke’s Salle Maurice O’Bready and Casino New Brunswick in Moncton.
Following the Canadian dates, the tour expands to Europe in 2026 with performances scheduled at Paris’s L’Olympia and Brussels’s L’Ancienne Belgique among other venues. The live presentation will feature what’s described as a grandiose stage design highlighting both Martin’s piano work and her more energetic performance persona.
Martin began her career at age 18 with her self-titled debut in September 2008, quickly gaining international attention when her song “Ensemble” became part of a viral YouTube video. The success led to coverage on Good Morning America and other major media outlets. Over more than 15 years, she has become a staple of francophone pop music, having sold over a million records and performed in sold-out venues across Quebec, France and the United States.
Since 2021, Martin has served as president and artistic director of Bravo musique, the label releasing Cavale. Her previous albums include the platinum-certified Blonde (2011), the bilingual Roses (2015), and En cas de tempête, ce jardin sera fermé (2018), which earned her Juno recognition for Francophone Album of the Year in 2019.
