Broken Social Scene will release Remember the Humans on May 8 via Arts & Crafts, their first studio album in nearly a decade. The Toronto collective reunited with producer David Newfeld, who helmed their breakthrough You Forgot It in People in 2002 and their self-titled 2005 album. The lead single, “Not Around Anymore,” arrived with a video directed by Jordan D Allen, Rachel McLean, and Kevin Drew.
The 12-track album features contributions from Feist, Lisa Lobsinger, and Hannah Georgas, maintaining the communal approach that’s defined the band’s work since the early 2000s. Drew and Newfeld hadn’t worked together in nearly 20 years before reconnecting for these sessions. Both lost their mothers during the recording, a shared grief that Newfeld says drew them closer. “Our moms would have wanted us to do this, and get it right after 20 years of not working together,” he said.
Charles Spearin, BSS’s longtime member, pointed to Newfeld’s production style as key to the record. “His production suits the chaos of our songwriting so well. He’s got a childlike energy that is really contagious, when you get a piece of music that he loves, oh my God, he’s bouncing like a little boy.”
The album announcement comes alongside the All The Feelings North American Tour, a co-headlining run with Metric and Stars promoted by Live Nation. The tour kicks off June 8 at Austin’s Moody Amphitheater and closes August 7 at RBC Amphitheatre in Toronto. The route includes stops at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on June 16, Brooklyn Paramount on July 30, and Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on August 4. Tickets go on sale February 6 at 10am local time.

Drew framed the album’s timing as part of a broader cultural shift. “In 2026, you’re going to see a lot of resurgence of people going back to the roots of who they are, because things in their lifetime have gotten quite lost. I think we’ve let each other down, and I think it’s art that always tries to prevail, and tries to get us back on track.”
