Barenaked Ladies to rerecord their hit song ‘If I Had A Million Dollars’ to account for inflation

It's Been 30 Years Since Barenaked Ladies Wished They Had $1,000,000 and Became Icons for Longer Than One Week | Exclaim!

In a surprise statement, Canadian alt-rockers Barenaked Ladies have announced plans to rerecord their 1992 hit If I Had A Million Dollars.

In the statement frontman Steven Page stated:
“We’ve just been having trouble playing the song live lately. It starts off by saying I would buy you a house. The reality is I could maybe get an old 1 bedroom condo on the outskirts of Mississauga for that price now and that’s pretty much the end of the song. We certainly wouldn’t be taking limousines to the store, I mean with the price of avocados and 7$ for a head of lettuce, we’d be taking the bus. In the end, it just feels really disingenuous to say I’d be rich. We don’t want to lie to our fans like that.”

When asked when the new version would be released, the band said they hoped to have it out soon, they were just saving up enough money to afford the studio time, have you seen what they charge now?
