Anthony Aka-Anghui Releases Double Single

Anthony Aka-Anghui, Ivorian-Canadian multi-instrumentalist, has released a double single — “Baby Bloom” and “Interlune” — as the first preview of his forthcoming EP Butterflies Never Die

Originally from Ivory Coast but now based in Montreal, he has built his reputation in Canada through collaborations with collectives and DJs such as Afrotonik, Kuruza, and Bonne Famille, before more recently emerging as a solo artist.

His live credentials include closing the Montreal International Jazz Festival (FIJM) twice and performing at Toronto Jazz Fest, Canadian Music Week, and Festival International Nuits d’Afrique.

Butterflies Never Die draws from the metamorphosis of the caterpillar as a creative metaphor. Aka-Anghui mixes afrohouse and amapiano with live instrumentation, emphasizing grooves and exploratory textures.

Vocal contributions include Sai Swari on “Baby Bloom” and Gina-Simone on “Interlune,” along with musicians from the Montreal music scene.

The two tracks are now available on streaming platforms. They offer a sound that balances rhythmic drive with organic performance, combining experimental elements and dance floor-aware structure.

Anthony will host an EP listening session at Cafe Cantinova on the afternoon of September 27th.
