Thierry Larose released his third album, Le X du Y, this week on Bravo musique. Three songs came out ahead of it: “Si j’avais un clou,” “Conversation dans le noir” and “J’en sais rien.” A video for the title track arrived with the album; in it, Larose recites a list of album titles that shaped Quebec’s recorded music.
For the record, Larose brought back the band he has worked with since Le roy, la rose et le lou[p]: Charles-Antoine Olivier, Sam Beaulé, Alexandre Martel, Lou-Adriane Cassidy and PE Beaudoin on drums. Martel produced. David Boulet-Tremblay mixed. Arrangements are credited to Cassidy, Martel, Larose and Léo Leblanc.
Larose wrote nearly every song. The exception is “Monongahela,” an unfinished 1988 song by Sylvain Lelièvre, the singer-songwriter from Limoilou. Lelièvre’s family gave it to Larose to complete.
The Le X du Y tour starts 17-10 at Le Minotaure in Gatineau and runs across Quebec until May. The Montreal launch is at MTelus on 05-02-27, the night before the Quebec City launch at Imperial Bell.
Closer to Montreal before then: Eglise Saint-Antoine in Lavaltrie (23-10) and Le Moulinet in Terrebonne (07-11). In 2027 he also plays Club Dix30 in Brossard (27-02) and Annexe 3 in Laval (17-03).
