Back in March, Victories bassist Christopher made a promise on a Montreal Rocks interview: hit 10,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, and the band would write a song for the Taylor Swift fans. A love song, he clarified, for the Swifties.
They blew past the target. Victories now sit at 26,000 monthly listeners, and on July 3rd they paid up. “I’m a Swiftie Too” is out now.

A Song, Not a Gimmick
The single could have been a string of easy references. Instead, Marc-André wanted the Taylor Swift song titles to carry an actual story. “I thought it would be fun to weave Taylor’s song titles into a story instead of just dropping references for the sake of it.”
The story is one a lot of people will recognize. Someone slowly realizes they have become a Swiftie without meaning to. A few songs get stuck in their head. Listening turns into listening on repeat. By the end, they admit the truth out loud: “Now I’m a Swiftie too.”
“It’s tongue-in-cheek, but there’s definitely some truth behind it.”
Crashing the Wedding
The band picked July 3rd as the release date months in advance. They later learned it was also the reported wedding date of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. You could not plan that if you tried, and they didn’t.
Art Imitating Life
The truth behind the song runs close to home. Marc-André never set out to become a Swiftie. Then came Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions.
“Something just clicked. I went down the rabbit hole, started listening to more of her music, and before I knew it… I was a Swiftie too.”
Blink-514
When I interviewed Victories earlier this year, I called them Blink-MTL. I’m upgrading it to Blink-514. Same idea, more Montreal.
The nickname keeps earning itself. Since their debut in March 2025, the band has racked up over 200,000 streams with no label and no manager. Their 2026 singles, recorded with producer Kyle Marchant (Bearings, Arm’s Length) at Room 21 Studios in Toronto, have picked up over 650 radio spins and more than 11,500 playlist adds. This fall, they open for Faber Drive.
Not bad for a band that keeps its promises.
