Montreal’s Julie Neff Releases Debut Album fine. on July 10

Montreal alternative artist Julie Neff releases her debut full-length album, fine., on Friday, July 10, 2026. The twelve-song record follows three EPs and performances across Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Ireland and the United States.

The album takes its name from one of the most common and most misread words in the language, a word that can carry acceptance, avoidance, reassurance, frustration or quiet desperation depending on how it is said. Written over several years while Neff was navigating chronic illness, mental health challenges, heartbreak and personal change, fine. examines the gap between what people show the world and what they are actually carrying underneath. Across its twelve tracks it moves through self-doubt, love, loss, nostalgia, resilience and growth without reaching for easy silver linings.

Musically the record expands Neff’s acoustic-folk beginnings into a wider alternative-pop landscape that takes in indie rock, orchestral textures and adventurous production. It was made with producer Cris Botarelli, and Neff cite influences including Frank Ocean, Kimbra, Feist, Alt-J, Stromae, Amber Mark, Charlotte OC and Jensen McRae.

Lead single, “SOMETHING,” grew from an acoustic sketch into a layered, singalong-leaning song about undefined relationships and the ambiguity of modern dating, built on four repeating chords. The title track, “fine!?”, uses intimate vocals and a bass-driven arrangement to sit inside the pressure of appearing in control. “I’m So Tired” has become a live standout, with audiences singing its refrain back to Neff. Other tracks include “At My Grandparents” and the closing “Edge of Distortion.”
