The Goo Goo Dolls have cancelled the remaining dates on their Canadian tour after singer John Rzeznik was diagnosed with pneumonia. The announcement came Sunday, April 5, following a run of postponed and scrapped shows across Ontario earlier in the week. Four concerts, including a scheduled stop at Place Bell in Laval on April 8, will no longer go ahead. Refunds are being issued through original points of purchase.
The band confirmed the decision in a statement, saying Rzeznik “has not fully recovered” and that continuing the tour was not possible. The cancellations affect shows in Ottawa, Laval, Halifax, and Moncton, which were set to take place between April 6 and April 11. The group had already pulled out of dates in Sault Ste. Marie, Oshawa, and Hamilton, with the Hamilton cancellation coming hours before doors.
They did perform in London, Ontario, on April 4. Fans at that show noted Rzeznik’s condition during the set, describing visible strain as he pushed through the performance. The London date now stands as the final Canadian stop on the tour.
The run had moved east after earlier Western Canadian shows in cities including Winnipeg, Calgary, and Victoria. No rescheduled Canadian dates have been announced. The band stated they intend to return once Rzeznik has recovered.
The cancellations come midway through a broader North American touring schedule. Upcoming U.S. appearances, including a festival date in Texas later in April, remain listed as scheduled.
