Shaina Hayes Shares New Single Flourish

Shaina Hayes has released a new single, Flourish, her first new material since 2024’s Kindergarten Heart. The song arrives just ahead of a European run opening for The Barr Brothers, with dates starting April 25 in Paris and continuing through the UK.

The track was recorded with Francis Ledoux and David Marchand, musicians Hayes has worked with closely in recent years. It leans on acoustic guitar and pedal steel, keeping things spare and direct, with her voice sitting right at the centre. The song takes its title from a concept Hayes encountered in John O’Donohue’s Anam Cara, and builds from there into something more personal, focused on closeness and the way people move through each other’s lives.

Flourish follows a stretch where Hayes’ audience has been growing beyond Quebec. Kindergarten Heart picked up support across campus and public radio, and pushed her further into international press. It also shifted her sound slightly, bringing in more country and soft rock elements without moving away from the quieter writing that defined her earlier work.

The upcoming dates place her in smaller rooms across London, Manchester, Glasgow, and Leeds, along with two stops in Paris. It’s a familiar position, opening these shows, but in front of audiences that have been building with each release.

Hayes has continued to divide her time between music and work on her family farm, something that hasn’t changed much even as the scale around her has.
