Annabel Gutherz is bringing a live band with Céline Dion credits to Le Balcon on April 23rd for ECHOES, a concert event that pairs her pop-rock set with a live workshop led by motivational speaker and podcast host Case Kenny. Tickets are on sale now.
Kenny opens the evening with a prelude titled The Language of Optimism before Gutherz takes the stage. It’s an unusual structure for a concert; whether it coheres in a room full of people is a different question than whether it reads well on paper.
Dominique Messier, who has been working with Gutherz as a producer and collaborator, takes the drum kit, joined by guitarists Kaven Girouard and Vincent Bilodeau, bassist Yves Labonté, and keyboardist Guillaume Marchand, all of whom have performed with Céline Dion. Having the same person producing your record and sitting behind the kit at your live show is less common than it sounds.
The Montreal-born singer-songwriter graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music with both a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Music Studies and a master’s in Songwriting. She’s been working with collaborators including Mikal Blue, who has credits with Colbie Caillat and Jason Mraz, and Bleu McAuley, whose résumé includes Selena Gomez and the Jonas Brothers. She recently signed a publishing deal with BMG, has original songs placed on CBS, and is mid-way through a sophomore album. April 23rd is the first look Montreal gets at where that’s heading.
