Elephant Stone have announced their tenth studio album, ASHA, arriving August 28, 2026 via Elephants On Parade and Little Cloud Records. The Montreal band also released the lead single Everything Evil on March 25, along with a video. The album was written in the months following the death of frontman Rishi Dhir’s mother, a loss that sits at the centre of the record.
Dhir recorded ASHA at his Montreal home studio, Sacred Sound, during that period. The title comes from the Sanskrit word for “hope” and is taken from his mother’s name. The songs move through grief without trying to tidy it up, sitting in that push and pull between heaviness and something lighter that never fully settles.
Everything Evil lands fast and doesn’t hang around. It’s under two minutes, built on a sharp, driving rhythm, and cuts away most of the layering the band is known for. Dhir described it as a reaction to what’s happening around him, something direct and immediate rather than reflective.

Elsewhere, the record stretches out more. Here Comes The Rising Sun opens things on a slower, more hypnotic note, while Spirit, Take Me Away closes the album with a guest appearance from Amy Millan of Stars and Broken Social Scene. Titles like Fascists Killed Yer Rock ’N’ Roll suggest a broader scope creeping in, though the personal thread never really drops out.
Dhir produced, engineered, and mixed the album himself, working out of Sacred Sound as he has for years. The band’s mix of psych-pop and Indian classical influence is still there, but it comes through in a more stripped-down way this time. Miles Dupire, Robbie MacArthur, and Jason Kent return as part of the current lineup.
ASHA will also be released as a limited vinyl pressing through Little Cloud Records, with more details expected closer to the release date.
