MC50 Live Album Features Soundgarden, Fugazi Members

The last proper tour celebrating MC5’s proto-punk legacy happened in 2018, when founding guitarist Wayne Kramer assembled an all-star lineup to mark the band’s 50th anniversary. Now, more than a year after Kramer’s death, that run is being memorialized with a second live album. MC50 have announced 10 More, a collection of previously unreleased concert recordings set for release on December 5th.

The album captures performances from Seattle, Cincinnati, and Hamburg, Germany, featuring Kramer alongside Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Brendan Canty (Fugazi), Billy Gould (Faith No More), Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, ex-Pearl Jam), and Marcus Durant (Zen Guerrilla). The ten-track set includes MC5 classics like “Rocket Reducer No. 62 (Rama Lama Fa-Fa-Fa),” “Looking at You,” and “Starship,” as well as a cover of Ray Charles’ “I Believe to My Soul.” The title nods to an earlier live disc from the same tour, which appeared as a bonus in deluxe editions of MC5’s 2024 album Heavy Lifting.

That 2018 trek proved to be a final celebration of MC5’s revolutionary sound. Kramer died in February 2024, followed just months later by drummer Dennis Thompson, leaving no surviving members of the band’s classic lineup. The timing makes 10 More feel less like a victory lap and more like a document of something irreplaceable slipping away, a last chance to hear Kramer’s vision carried forward by players who understood the band’s raw, political edge.

The album is available for pre-order on vinyl and CD via Amazon.
