We were warned about a big snowstorm coming to Montreal on the night of February 12th, but no one could have imagined the incredible show that was about to unfold! Three Finnish cellists, armed with their instruments and hearts full of passion, took the stage. Montreal was in for a treat!

To warm up, we had the amazing Nita Strauss in the house. She’s a touring guitarist for Alice Cooper and Demi Lovato, and she blew us away with her incredible skills. She played a set of nine songs from her latest album, The Call of the Void, and it was a guitar lover’s dream come true. She’s a true virtuoso, and her performance was nothing short of spectacular.

Now, it was time for the main event: Apocalyptica’s Metallica Vol. 2 tour! These guys are legends in the metal world, and they put on an incredible show. They ran around the stage with their cellos, giving it their all for every song. It was a cover show like no other, playing 13 Metallica songs in just 90 minutes. They even started with the lights turning off to the tune of Ennio Morricone’s epic song, The Ecstasy of Gold. It was a goosebump moment!

They went straight into Ride the Lightning, and it was just incredible. I could go on and on about every song, but it would just be a review of the incredible music Metallica gave us. But this was more than just a concert; it was an art form. These three men were honouring their favourite band in the only way they knew how, and they absolutely nailed it. They had every fan in the building on their toes, singing along and chanting with all their might.

One could not hope for a better show—humble humans honoured to be welcomed by the Montreal crowd. As for favourites, that’s easy: Enter Sandman, with the crowd doing the vocals, and my absolute favourite song, Seek and Destroy!
It was a true metal gathering with a touch of sophistication. If you ever get the chance to see them live, don’t miss it! It’s an experience you won’t forget.
