Lucki @ MTelus

The moment I made my way into Lucki’s sold-out show at MTELUS, I felt the energy coming from the stage as DJ Yaffy’s set prepared the crowd for what promised to be a great show. Seeing the audience so lively so early on in the night wasn’t expected, but it was definitely welcome. Yaffy had an amazing set, and every song he played resulted in a mosh pit. During most of Yaffy’s performance, all the audience members sitting in the balcony section looked down jealously at the fans below.

Shortly after Yaffy’s set, KillaKam came on stage and was welcomed by a crowd that eagerly anticipated Lucki. The DJ played some unique song mixes that were generally loved by the crowd, as well as some all-time rap concert classics such as Ski Mask, The Slump God’s Take A Step Back and Playboi Carti’s Stop Breathing. Overall, the DJ had amazing energy and kept the crowd entertained the whole time. As the crowd’s patience began to falter, Lucki made an unexpected entrance to his recently released PAIDNFULL, and the crowd went nuts.

Seeing the crowd still have so much energy for the headliner was honestly shocking. Lucki, who announced to the crowd that he hadn’t slept 2 days, seemed to be fueled by the crowd as he played his extensive catalogue of hits. In between songs, Lucki made sure to show love to the fans as he signed multiple vinyls and dapped up everyone in the front of the crowd. He even let a young fan on stage during his performance of Out My Way and told him to stage dive right as the beat dropped.

Although his set was a bit short, Lucki’s performance was very solid, with the highlights being his standout performances of New Drank and 2021 Vibes. For both songs, it seemed like the entire venue knew all of the lyrics by heart, making the performance so much better.

In the end, Lucki’s Montreal show was one to be remembered thanks to a solid performance from the headliner, some great support from the 2 DJ’s and a crowd that was filled with energy.
