When the moving stops; a parallel to the current life we are living
Montreal is host to conflicting motions all over the place, the last being living through a harsh winter, a destructive ice storm, and then the good weather. There is a collectivity in the motions of your life, and you can’t stop; just like the band couldn’t stop performing and vibing with the audience. There was a revival felt in between the funky hip-hop beats and the verses spat without a stutter. The audience couldn’t stay off their feet at the Fairmount theatre on Friday night, everyone was a dancer, everyone was a lover… with their eyes closed counting to Ten.

Rami B, Tony Stone, DoomX and all the other artists present allowed a forecast of the pure definition of Giza; a city in northern Egypt, emitting love for the unusual and the exotic. Etymological definition being just as exact; “beside the high”. People were there to vibe, to move their bodies… Letting the Truth set you free… to feel exactly that; BESIDE THE HIGH… Planet Giza’s music is the perfect vessel for dealing with and processing the highs and lows whilst simultaneously enjoying the ride.

The relatable lyrics allow the description of feelings tricky enough to put a single word to them; Love? Regret? Lust? Allure? All through and not singular to their new album, Ready When You Are, released at the beginning of the month. The album we weren’t expecting but the one we needed.
Spring is around the corner, yet here we are. And what a more enriching experience than to be standing in front of a beautiful band merging instrumentals and pure passion in the lyrics, welcoming it in.
