Ash Lex and co-founder Derek Wiltshire are launching 3F: Festival Femmes Fatales, a two-night event dedicated to women and femme artists in Montreal’s live music scene, running June 19 and 20 at Le P’tit Ours.
The festival’s lineup includes Ema Jean, Rachel Dara Band, Those Trees, Death Proof, Ash Lex, and Blackmagic. Several acts are performing with extended collaborators: Ash Lex with Zach Winn and Dave Jordan, Those Trees alongside Anne-Marie Soucy and Hazy Oak, and Blackmagic with Leanna and Zack. Proceeds from both nights will go to the Montreal chapter of Women in Music.
The organizers are clear about what the festival is and isn’t doing. The talent isn’t being discovered. The goal is visibility and normalization: women and femme artists performing on stage as a default, not a talking point. 3F frames its work as contributing to a broader cultural shift, one where more people can see themselves in these roles across the scene.
