Halifax-native alternative singer-songwriter Jon Bryant returns to Montreal this week to play Petit Campus as part of his ‘Would You Call Me Up’ Tour on Thursday, December 8.
This decade would be nothing short of unbelievable for him. In between countless shows, he delivered four full-length albums, including Cult Classic in 2019. The latter refined his signature style as it detailed his brief experience and exit from NVXIM, which led to appearances on the podcast Stuff They Don’t Want You To Know and q: The Podcast From CBC RadioOne syndicated via NPR. Throughout 2019, Jon immersed himself in crafting his 2022 EP Half Bad (Nettwerk). This time around, he embraced a longstanding passion for R&B a la D’Angelo and nodded to inspirations as diverse as Kendrick Lamar and Van Morrison.
Not only does the Vancouver-based alternative singer and songwriter pick up the threads of formative influences such as R&B and folk, but he also reaches a new level of understanding and empathy, evidenced in the songwriting.
The show also sees two of Montreal’s best opening the show: Cinzia & The Eclipse and Ken Presse
Montreal Rocks has a pair of tickets to the show to give away to one lucky winner. Simply comment below with your favourite song by any of the artists on the bill. The contest closes at 6pm on December 7.
